Photographer Q & A

We are truly grateful for your interest in becoming a photographer for this great cause. Without volunteer photographers, our organization would be nothing.

We take the screening process for our photographers to heart.  We are looking for the best photographers to join our team.

A few of the things we are looking for:

  • A strong body of work with natural light.
  • A large portfolio with families and children (while we love the work of wedding, commercial, and landscape photographers, we need photographers with a background of working with children and families interacting)
  • Capturing moments between family members that truly capture their personalities and love for one another, not just a posed snapshot
  • Creativity
  • Clean editing

In addition to these items please familiarize yourself with our Code of Conduct and our Photographer Responsibilities documents. Compliance with these is mandatory for our volunteers.

It can take 3-6 weeks for our screening process as we like to look at all aspects of your website, facebook page, and application. You will receive an e-mail with more information after the screening process has been completed.

Q: I am a photographer and have a friend/relative that is fighting a life threatening illness.  Can I take their pictures?

A: We greatly appreciate your enthusiasm. We go through an extensive screening process for our volunteer photographers. Because of this, we request that all photographers interested visit our Apply to Become Part of Our Team page and fill out the information. You will be notified in 3-6 weeks if you have been accepted.

Q: Can I share my family’s session on my facebook page?

A: If your family has signed a consent that you provided for them to allow you to share images on your personal site, then yes. Only images with a little rae of hope’s watermark can be published online.

Q: Do I have to produce the album, USB, or anything else for the family?

A: No, you will send the images back to a little rae of hope and we will take care of the rest.

Q: I do not give away my clients print releases or any tangible item with the images on it; I only sell them prints. Am I allowed to sell prints or canvases to my rae of hope family instead of giving them the print release?

A: No. Our goal is for this to not cost the family anything. When signing up as a volunteer for a little rae of hope you agree to provide the family with a print release so they may print at their leisure in addition to their free album. If you would like to donate a canvas or prints then you may do so but please contact your family liaison before doing so.
